City Approves Zoning Change

On December 18th the City of Alameda removed the G (Government Overlay) zoning from the McKay Ave. parcel. The removal was a key condition set by HHS in order to convert the current lease to ownership. Required by the Municipal code, the removal was seen by the council as a positive affirmation of the need for this project to be built. Supporters of the project greatly outnumbered a contingent of neighbors who came out to oppose services for homeless seniors in their neighborhood.
