The Anthem Blue Cross Foundation has provided a major donation to Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) to support the planning of the Alameda Wellness Center in 2019. The generous donation will support comprehensive project planning and ensure that the Wellness Center realizes significant benefits for individuals and seniors experiencing homelessness and complex health needs.
The Wellness Center will provide 90 senior supportive housing units, a 50-bed medical respite program, Resource Center and primary health care services. The Medical Respite program will primarily serve individuals departing area hospitals who have a medical condition that can be resolved with short-term residential care combined with medical services. The Senior Housing will enable homeless individuals ages 55 years and older to gain housing stability and receive end-of-life care in a dignified and service-enriched community setting. The Resource Center will provide housing advocacy, rental assistance and support for Alamedans who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness.
